DNS Analysis Report June 2024

June 2024 saw over 3.73 trillion DNS queries, reflecting a 4.12% decrease compared to May 2024, with a daily query average of over 124.65 billion queries.
This decrease is anticipated due to June having one less day than May. When comparing the overall numbers from June to May, every DNS record type experienced a decrease. However, the percentages relative to the total number of queries remained almost unchanged.
Notably, June saw a decrease in NX Domain response codes, but June also saw an increase in the Refused and Form Error response codes. June also saw a significant rise in the number of DDoS attacks against the UltraDNS platform, with 528, marking a 236.31% increase when compared to the prior month. Despite the increase in frequency, these DDoS attacks were very small in scale.
