The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, disrupted mobile and internet services for millions of users. Kyivstar's CEO, Oleksandr Komarov, stated that the company aims to restore some of its services later on Wednesday. The attack left customers without phone or internet access, and even caused the air raid sirens in one city to stop working. Although no official group has been identified as the source of the attack, Kyivstar's chief executive implied that Russia could be responsible.
In addition to this attack on Kyivstar, Ukraine has been hit by a wave of cyber-attacks, which its government says are "on a completely different level". This incident represents the third wave of attacks against Ukraine this year, and the most sophisticated to date.
The latest attack began to come to light when internet connectivity company NetBlocks tweeted about outages, saying "the incident appears consistent with recent DDoS attacks"
